I have been listening to the Streaming Indy chatter and the LIRC is running 2 trains back to back into Indy towards Avon.
CSX ID Z560 with GMTX 2637 - Pilots were called out and met at CP DALE. 1208 Z560 north of CP DALE 1210 Z550 LIRC 2371 (52 cars) received an EC to proceed north bwtn QSL4.0 and CP DALE 1213 Z550 north of QSL4 Should be interesting if both return south. Z560 ends up going from CP DALE to IU then down the Shelbyville, New Wye, Belt, Prospect wye into Hawethorne. From there they left their cars and let engine light. They left Hawethorne on the Prospect wye, belt, crossing and around to CP DALE. |

The LIRC has leased a pair of fresh GATX GP38-2 rebuilds. The units are GMTX #2636 and 2637 (yes GMTX are the correct markings). The units are former GP38's upgraded to GP38-2 specs at VMV in Paducah,KY and both units are in reeking fresh blue and white paint. Both were observed behind the engine house in Jeffersonville on 1-11-06 and on 1-12-06 I noted the #2636 working between a pair of LIRC GP39-2's leaving the Clark Maritime Center. #2637 was parked behind the engine house still waiting to be placed in service. Keep an eye for them while they are clean, not to mention its hard to say how long they may be leased for. Bryan Jones |

The last couple of days LIRC CA/Z550 has been running thru here midday. Daylight trains on the north end.... I cannot belive it. Niether can the people at the Shelby street crossing, where during the daylight cars are always parked too close to the tracks. No incidents yet, but the L&I crew has been knowingly creeping thru there. Shawn Noe |

Anonymous writes "Caught a rare L&I Sunday move in Indy last night, I saw two of the Painted GP39-2 units with 50 LERX (Public Service Indiana) cars headed south. They had come out of Avon. COuldnt tell of the cars were empty or leaded. CSX Symbol was Z599 Coal trains on the L&I? Shawn Noe" According to a post on one of the e-mail lists, this is a test that CSX and L&I are doing, hauling coal from a mine near Terre Haute, across to Indy and down to Clark Maritime Center, where it will be transloaded onto barges and hauled to the power plant in New Albany. If the tests are successful, L&I is rumored to be looking at leasing four more locomotives for these moves. Brian
